Musical Madness!

Yesterday was our big Tech Saturday for "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat." Performances are this weekend Thursday, Friday and Saturday (March 25th, 26th and 27th) @ 7:30pm at Kenowa Hills Performing Arts Center. Come check it out!

Monday, March 15, 2010

The English version of the animation is completed! Unfortunately it cannot be shown for another two weeks. It will be available as soon as the website of the company it was made for is launched.

It feels good to have something accomplished! Now I have to work on the logo that is due today for the Grand Haven Chamber of Commerce.

Calm Amidst Chaos

I am trying to calm down after spending the last 4 days racing to finish Joseph's Coat. Now I must switch gears and prepare for musical practice tonight. First I need a few minutes to clear my mind. That's where this blog becomes helpful!

I'll try not to think of all of those other projects I haven't finished or gotten to yet that so dearly need my attention too. Time to stretch out my body, relax my muscles, and choreograph the parts of the show that need to be taught this evening. Tonight I will be working side by side with the director, Reed Bretz. I love it when we team up to teach because it is a lot less stressful and we play off each other really well.

Joseph's Coat

Here is a preview of Joseph's Coat of many Colors...the costume for the musical. It is still in progress. The coat is due to be finished by this monday, March 8th. My mother is a saint! Although I designed it, she has helped me put it together, and help save me a lot of time.

Tin Can Treasures

Here are some pictures of a product I've been working on using recycled materials. They are called "Tin Can Treasures." (Made from recycled cans). This one has a snow leopard on it. This one will be sold at the John Ball Zoo.

Here Comes the Sun!

The sun is out today! Big blue sky...spring is on its way. The sun has an amazing ability to refresh us and fuel our inspirations.

Yesterday I was in stuck in a rut...creatively, and spiritually, and I was battling low energy. Lots of projects can become overwhelming especially when you find yourself in a creative block!

Today I am realizing the importance of a well rounded lifestyle. Just as we have been deprived of the sun all winter, I have been depriving myself of everyday things that can keep you going.

So I began my day by cleaning. The cleaning elves have been gone on an extended vacation for quite some time...they took a cruise down in the tropics, and ended up on some island with cocktails...only to call and say they found a great deal on a beach resort and decided to stay a while.

I took care of my crying plants...(they are crying when they wilt, I can almost hear them).

And there you have it...refreshed, renewed energy, and I feel much better. I tend to think that if I have work to do I cannot do anything else until it gets done. Wrong! These little tasks are what keep you going!

Today, before musical practice I will be working on Wild Widget Products for the John Ball Zoo and while those are drying, I will work on the Coat of Many Colors for the Musical. Pictures will be posted soon!

Welcome!

Welcome to my blog!

This is all new. I have been very busy, and unable to update all the news on my website quick enough, so this site is my solution.

Right now I am in the process of a lot of process. Here are the bullet points of recent activities:

*Animation-my next animation is set to be finished on March 15th for Dress My Rescue, a local business that will be launched to promote adoption of animals from shelters. We are working with Sean Copenhaver who is in charge of the sound. Stay posted to find out what is going on in the frame below:

*Wild Widgets-I am selling handmade goods at the John Ball Zoo! This is the beginning of a new line of products. We will see how it goes.

*Musical-March 25th, 26th, and 27th 2010....performance dates of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" at Kenowa Hills High School. I am choreographing this piece and also designing some of the costumes, like Joseph's coat!

*Grand Haven Sand Sculpture Contest- I am working with the Grand Haven Chamber of Commerce to redesign the sand sculpture logo. The design is due to be turned in on Monday March 15th. There will also be (tentatively), a promotional animation for the contest.

***West Michigan Addy Awards Silver Medal***
I recently attended the Addy Awards after volunteering with the Ad Club and won a silver medal for my video piece "Chair."

Check out my website at www.amyhofacker.com for a complete portfolio of my work.
